Chevrolet Sonic Repair Manual: Rear Brake Hose Replacement (Body to Axle - Disc Brake)

Removal Procedure

Warning:

Refer to Brake Dust Warning.

Warning:

Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.


  3. Remove the brake pipe fitting (1) from the rear brake hose.
  4. Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  5. Remove the brake hose retainer (1).

  6. Remove the brake pipe fitting (1) from the rear brake hose.
  7. Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  8. Remove the brake hose retainer (1).
  9. Remove the brake hose.
Installation Procedure
  1. Install the brake hose.
    2. __
  2. Install the brake hose retainer (1).

    3. Caution:

    Refer to Fastener Caution.

  3. Install the brake pipe fitting (1) to the rear brake hose and tighten the fitting to 18 Y (13 lb ft)

  4. Install the brake hose retainer (1).

  5. Install the brake pipe fitting (1) to the rear brake hose and tighten the fitting to 18 Y (13 lb ft)

    .

  6. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding.
  7. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
