Chevrolet Sonic Repair Manual: Synchronizers Disassemble

1st/2nd Gear Synchronizer

    Note:

    When servicing the synchronizers, retain them in the same order that they are removed. Keep the synchronizer components together and mark them to identify correct location.

  1. Remove the 1st/2nd gear synchronizer hub (2) from the 1st/2nd gear synchronizer sleeve (3).
  2. Remove the synchronizer inserts (1) from the 1st/2nd gear synchronizer hub (2).
3rd/4th Gear Synchronizer

    Remove the 3rd/4th gear synchronizer hub (2) from
  1. Remove the 3rd/4th gear synchronizer hub (2) from the 3rd/4th gear synchronizer sleeve (3).
  2. Remove the synchronizer inserts (1) from the 3rd/4th gear synchronizer hub (2).
5th Gear Synchronizer

    Remove the 5th gear synchronizer hub (3) from the
  1. Remove the 5th gear synchronizer hub (3) from the 5th gear synchronizer sleeve (2).
  2. Remove the synchronizer inserts (1) from the 5th gear synchronizer hub (3).
