Nissan Armada 2025-2026 Owner's Manual: Basic information

The Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system in the Nissan Armada is an advanced stability and traction management system that continuously monitors driver inputs and vehicle behavior through multiple sensors. By analyzing steering input, wheel speed, and vehicle motion, the Nissan Armada VDC system actively assists the driver in maintaining stability and control under a wide range of driving conditions.

Under specific situations, the Nissan Armada VDC system performs several key functions designed to enhance safety and driving confidence:

Although the Nissan Armada VDC system significantly improves vehicle stability, it cannot prevent loss of control in every situation. Safe driving practices and proper speed selection remain essential at all times.

When the Nissan Armada VDC system is actively working, the slip indicator light Nissan Armada slip indicator light flashing during traction control operation on the instrument panel will flash. When this occurs, consider the following:

If a malfunction is detected in the Nissan Armada VDC system, the slip indicator light Nissan Armada VDC malfunction warning indicator will illuminate steadily in the instrument cluster, and the system will automatically deactivate.

The VDC OFF switch allows the driver to manually disable the system. When turned off, the VDC OFF indicator Nissan Armada VDC OFF indicator light on dashboard will illuminate to confirm that the system is inactive.

Even when the Nissan Armada VDC system is switched off, a limited traction control function remains active. This function helps prevent a single drive wheel from spinning excessively by transferring power to the wheel with better grip. During this condition, the slip indicator light Nissan Armada traction control slip indicator light may flash. However, full VDC stability control features will not operate, and the additional slip indicator Nissan Armada stability control inactive indicator will remain off.

The Nissan Armada VDC system automatically resets to the ON position when the ignition is switched off and then restarted, ensuring that full safety functionality is restored for the next drive.

The onboard control unit of the Nissan Armada includes a built-in self-diagnostic feature that performs a system check each time the engine is started and the vehicle begins moving at low speed, either forward or in reverse.

During this self-test, you may hear a brief "clunk" sound or feel a slight pulsation in the brake pedal. These sensations are normal and confirm that the Nissan Armada VDC system is operating correctly.

When specific off-road drive modes such as SAND, ROCK, or MUD/RUT (if equipped) are selected in the Nissan Armada, the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system adjusts its operation and may reduce its level of intervention. In these modes, the Nissan Armada prioritizes traction and wheel spin flexibility to improve performance on loose or uneven terrain. As a result, the VDC system may not respond in the same way as it does in STANDARD mode.

Because of this modified behavior, drivers of the Nissan Armada should exercise increased caution, particularly when cornering or driving on slippery surfaces. Always maintain proper speed, avoid aggressive maneuvers, and adapt your driving style to the current road or terrain conditions.

For optimal safety during normal driving conditions, it is recommended to reactivate the full VDC functionality by pressing the VDC OFF switch and ensuring the system is turned back ON as soon as possible.
