Nissan Armada 2025-2026 Owner's Manual: System temporarily unavailable

In the Nissan Armada, if the Blind Spot Warning (BSW) system detects that the radar sensors are obstructed, the system will automatically deactivate and display the message "Unavailable Side Radar Obstruction" in the vehicle information display.

The Nissan Armada BSW system will remain inactive until the obstruction is cleared and normal operating conditions are restored.

Temporary environmental factors such as snow, water spray, fog, or mist can interfere with the radar sensors. In addition, physical obstructions like ice, frost, dirt, or debris accumulated on the sensor area may also prevent proper operation of the Nissan Armada BSW system.

NOTE:

When the Nissan Armada BSW system becomes unavailable, related safety systems such as Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention (I-BSI) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) will also be disabled until normal operation resumes.

Action to take:

Once the obstruction or environmental condition affecting the Nissan Armada sensors is resolved, the BSW system will automatically return to normal operation without additional input from the driver.

System malfunction

If a malfunction occurs within the Nissan Armada Blind Spot Warning system, it will automatically shut down and display the warning message "Malfunction See Owner's Manual" in the vehicle information display.

NOTE:

In the event of a malfunction, the Nissan Armada Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention (I-BSI) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) systems will also be deactivated.

Action to take:

Safely stop the Nissan Armada in a secure location, turn off the engine, and then restart it. If the warning message remains visible, the system should be inspected by a qualified technician. It is recommended to visit an authorized Nissan dealer for proper diagnosis and repair.

Basic information

The Nissan Armada is equipped with two radar sensors (A) positioned near the rear bumper, which are responsible for monitoring blind spot areas and supporting the BSW system.

To ensure optimal performance of the Nissan Armada Blind Spot Warning system, it is essential to keep the radar sensor areas clean and unobstructed at all times.

Environmental conditions such as snow accumulation, water splashes, fog, or condensation can temporarily block the sensors and reduce detection capability.

Additionally, physical obstructions such as dirt, ice, or road debris may interfere with sensor operation.

Regularly inspect and clean the sensor areas on your Nissan Armada, removing any substances or objects that could block the radar signals and compromise system functionality.

Maintaining clean and unobstructed sensors ensures that the Nissan Armada safety systems continue to operate accurately and reliably in all driving conditions.

When operating the Nissan Armada, it is important to avoid placing any stickers, including transparent films, installing accessories, or applying additional paint near the radar sensor areas, as these may interfere with proper system functionality.

Do not mount metallic components such as brush guards or similar equipment close to the radar sensors on the Nissan Armada, as metallic interference can disrupt signal transmission and reduce detection accuracy.

Protect the radar sensor areas from impact. Avoid striking or applying force to the regions surrounding the sensors, as even minor damage can affect system performance.

If the rear bumper area of your Nissan Armada is damaged due to a collision or external impact, it is strongly recommended to have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Nissan dealer or qualified repair facility to ensure proper system calibration and operation.

Precautions on repairing the bumper

Special care must be taken when performing repairs on the Nissan Armada bumper, as the radar sensors for the Blind Spot Warning system are integrated into this area.

The Nissan Armada radar sensors operate by emitting radio waves and analyzing their reflection to detect surrounding objects and vehicles accurately.

WARNING

Improper bumper repairs on the Nissan Armada, such as using non-approved materials, applying excessive paint layers, or using unsuitable fillers, may weaken or block radar signals. This can result in incorrect object detection or complete system failure, potentially leading to serious personal injury.

If bumper repair is required, always have the work performed by an authorized Nissan dealer to ensure that the radar sensors maintain proper functionality and calibration.
