When the Nissan Armada detects that the radar sensors are obstructed, the system will automatically deactivate to ensure safe and reliable operation.
A warning message reading "Unavailable Side Radar Obstruction" will appear in the vehicle information display, alerting the driver that the system is temporarily inactive.
During this period, the Nissan Armada safety systems dependent on radar input will remain unavailable until the obstruction is cleared and normal operating conditions are restored.
Temporary radar blockage may occur due to environmental factors such as water splashes, fog, mist, or heavy moisture in the air.
Additionally, the radar sensors on the Nissan Armada may be obstructed by physical elements including ice buildup, frost, dirt, or debris covering the sensor areas.
It is also important to note that when TOW mode (if equipped) or the trailer Blind Spot Warning (BSW) function is activated, the Nissan Armada RCTA system will automatically be disabled to prioritize towing stability and safety.
NOTE:
Action to take:
Once the obstruction or limiting condition is resolved, the Nissan Armada system will automatically resume normal operation without requiring manual intervention.
System malfunction
If the Nissan Armada RCTA system experiences a malfunction, it will automatically shut down to prevent inaccurate operation. A warning message stating "Malfunction See Owner's Manual" will appear in the vehicle information display.
NOTE:
If the Nissan Armada BSW system stops functioning, the RCTA and I-BSI systems will also be disabled as they rely on shared sensor data.
Action to take:
Safely stop your Nissan Armada, turn off the engine, and then restart it. If the warning message remains after restarting, have the system inspected as soon as possible. It is recommended that you visit an authorized NISSAN dealer for proper diagnosis and service.
