Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren System (LATCH)
Basic information
The Nissan Armada is equipped with a dedicated child safety anchoring system known as LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children), also referred to as ISOFIX or ISOFIX-compatible system. This system is engineered to simplify the installation of child restraints while providing a secure and stable connection without relying on standard seat belts in most cases.
In the Nissan Armada, LATCH-compatible child restraints can be directly attached to the built-in anchor points. However, if the combined weight of the child and the child restraint exceeds 65 lbs (29.5 kg), the vehicle’s seat belt must be used instead of the lower anchors. Always follow the child restraint manufacturer’s instructions carefully when installing a system in the Nissan Armada.
The LATCH lower anchor points in the Nissan Armada are available only in specific seating positions:

WARNING
Improper installation or misuse of the LATCH system in the Nissan Armada may result in serious injury or death to a child or other occupants during sudden braking or a collision.
Refer to the appropriate sections of the manual for detailed installation instructions.
If the anchors are obstructed, the child restraint may not be properly secured.
Never use these anchors for adult seat belts, cargo straps, or other equipment, as this may damage the anchor points and compromise safety.
LATCH lower anchor location
The lower anchor points in the Nissan Armada are located in the rear seating area. For models with a 2nd row bench seat, do not attempt to install child restraints simultaneously in both the center and left outboard positions using LATCH anchors, as this may lead to improper installation.

2nd row captain's seats (if so equipped)

3rd row right outboard seat
In the Nissan Armada, the LATCH anchors are positioned beneath the ISOFIX indicators located at the base of the rear seat cushions, making them easy to identify and access.

LATCH in the 2nd row center seating position (if so equipped)
The Nissan Armada may include an additional (5th) LATCH anchor located between the standard outboard anchor pairs. This anchor is designed for use with the inner anchor on the driver’s side to enable installation of a child restraint in the center seating position.
These anchors follow standard LATCH spacing of 11.02 in (280 mm), ensuring compatibility with most certified child restraint systems.
WARNING
Never attach more than one child restraint system to a single LATCH anchor in the Nissan Armada, as this may overload the anchor and increase the risk of serious injury or death in a collision.
When installing a child restraint in the center position using LATCH anchors, ensure that adjacent passengers or child restraints are properly secured with seat belts and do not interfere with the installation.
If proper positioning cannot be achieved, consider installing the child restraint using the vehicle seat belt or relocating it to another seating position.
Before installing a child restraint in the center seat, adjust the seatback so that both sides are evenly aligned. This creates a stable and level surface for installation.
Never install a child restraint on an uneven seatback, as this may compromise stability and increase the risk of injury.

LATCH webbing-mounted attachment
Installing child restraint LATCH lower anchor attachments
Child restraints compatible with the LATCH system in the Nissan Armada feature either rigid connectors or flexible webbing attachments that connect directly to the anchor points.
This system eliminates the need to use seat belts for installation in most cases, simplifying the process and ensuring a secure fit.
Always verify that your child restraint includes a label indicating LATCH compatibility. This information is typically found on the product label or in the manufacturer’s instructions.

When installing a child restraint in the Nissan Armada, carefully read and follow both the instructions in this manual and those provided by the child restraint manufacturer to ensure proper installation and maximum safety.
