Nissan Armada 2025-2026 Owner's Manual: SAND mode

WARNING

When SAND mode is activated in the Nissan Armada, the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system operates with reduced intervention. As a result, the system may not react in the same way as it does in STANDARD mode. To minimize the risk of accidents, always drive the Nissan Armada with caution, avoid aggressive maneuvers, and take extra care when cornering or driving on loose or slippery surfaces.

CAUTION

Do not use SAND mode on dry, paved, or high-traction roads. Operating the Nissan Armada in this mode under such conditions may overload drivetrain components, accelerate tire wear, and negatively impact fuel efficiency.

The symbol of this Nissan Armada mode is Nissan Armada SAND mode icon.

SAND mode is specifically designed to enhance the Nissan Armada performance when driving on sandy terrain such as dunes or loose desert surfaces. It optimizes traction and throttle response to help maintain forward momentum in low-grip conditions.

When SAND mode is selected in the Nissan Armada, the 4WD "AUTO" mode becomes unavailable. Refer to the Nissan Armada All-Mode 4WD system documentation for more details.

Additionally, certain air suspension settings such as "AERO" and "ACCESS" cannot be selected while SAND mode is active, even when the air suspension AUTO function is engaged.

While operating the Nissan Armada in SAND mode, you may notice slight braking effects or vibrations when turning sharply. These characteristics are normal and are part of the system’s adaptation to unstable terrain.

If equipped, the Nissan Armada suspension system is automatically adjusted in SAND mode to improve stability and ride comfort on soft, uneven surfaces.

ROCK mode

WARNING

When ROCK mode is engaged in the Nissan Armada, the VDC system intervention is also reduced. This means stability assistance may not respond as actively as in STANDARD mode. Always drive cautiously, especially on uneven, rocky, or slippery terrain, and avoid sudden steering inputs or excessive speed.

CAUTION

Do not operate the Nissan Armada in ROCK mode on paved or hard surfaces. Doing so may place unnecessary strain on drivetrain components, increase tire wear, and reduce overall vehicle efficiency.

The symbol of this Nissan Armada mode is Nissan Armada ROCK mode icon.

ROCK mode is engineered to provide maximum traction and precise control when navigating rough, rocky terrain. It allows the Nissan Armada to maintain grip at low speeds, making it ideal for off-road obstacles and challenging landscapes.

Both SAND and ROCK modes in the Nissan Armada are designed to extend off-road capability while requiring attentive and responsible driving to ensure safety and optimal performance.

In the Nissan Armada, this mode is specifically engineered to improve vehicle control and traction when driving across deep gravel, uneven moguls, or rugged rocky terrain. It enhances the ability of the Nissan Armada to start smoothly and maintain stability in challenging off-road environments.

When this mode is activated in the Nissan Armada, the 4WD "AUTO" setting becomes unavailable. Refer to the Nissan Armada All-Mode 4WD system documentation for complete operational details.

Additionally, when this mode is selected, certain air suspension height settings such as "AERO" and "ACCESS" cannot be chosen while the air suspension AUTO switch (if equipped) is engaged. This ensures that the Nissan Armada maintains optimal ground clearance for rough terrain.

When operating the Nissan Armada in ROCK mode, you may notice a tight-corner braking sensation or slight vibration while turning. These characteristics are normal and are part of the system’s adaptive behavior for uneven surfaces.

If equipped, the Nissan Armada suspension system is automatically tuned in this mode to deliver improved handling and stability on gravel, rocky trails, and uneven ground.

MUD/RUT mode

WARNING

When MUD/RUT mode is selected in the Nissan Armada, the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system operates with reduced intervention. As a result, it may not react as actively as it does in STANDARD mode. Always drive carefully, avoid aggressive inputs, and be especially cautious when navigating slippery or unstable surfaces.

CAUTION

Do not use MUD/RUT mode on dry or paved roads. Operating the Nissan Armada in this mode under such conditions may overload drivetrain components, increase tire wear, and reduce fuel efficiency.

The symbol of this Nissan Armada mode is Nissan Armada MUD RUT mode icon.

MUD/RUT mode is designed to maximize traction and control when driving the Nissan Armada on muddy surfaces, deep ruts, or riverbeds. It adjusts power delivery and drivetrain behavior to help the vehicle maintain forward motion in low-traction conditions.

When MUD/RUT mode is engaged in the Nissan Armada, the 4WD "AUTO" setting is not available. For more information, refer to the Nissan Armada All-Mode 4WD system.

Also, certain air suspension height modes such as "AERO" and "ACCESS" cannot be selected while this mode is active, ensuring that the Nissan Armada maintains appropriate ride height for off-road driving.

While driving the Nissan Armada in MUD/RUT mode, slight vibrations or braking sensations during cornering may occur. This is normal system behavior and does not indicate a malfunction.

If equipped, the Nissan Armada suspension system is optimized in this mode to handle muddy terrain, deep ruts, and uneven surfaces more effectively, improving both traction and vehicle stability.

The Nissan Armada advanced terrain modes, including ROCK and MUD/RUT, are designed to provide superior off-road capability while requiring attentive and controlled driving for maximum safety and performance.
