Steering Wheel Airbag Coil Replacement

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement.
  2. Remove the steering column upper trim cover. Refer to Steering Column Upper Trim Cover Replacement.
  3. Remove the steering column lower trim cover. Refer to Steering Column Lower Trim Cover Replacement.

Steering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module Coil Bolt (Qty: 4)

Caution:

Refer to Fastener Caution.

Steering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module Coil

Procedure

  1. Disconnect any electrical connectors as necessary.
  2. Use tape in order to secure the old coil in the center position.
  3. Remove the old coil from the steering column.
  4. Transfer the steering angle sensor. Refer to Steering Angle Sensor Replacement.
  5. Ensure the coil is centered during installation. If you are installing a NEW coil, ensure the centering tab is on the coil. If the coil is not centered, refer to Airbag Steering Wheel Module Coil Centering.
