Nissan Armada 2025-2026 Owner's Manual: Automatic operation

The electronic parking brake in the Nissan Armada will automatically release when the vehicle begins to move, provided the following conditions are met:

• The engine is running.
• The transmission is in D (Drive) or R (Reverse).
• The driver’s door is closed.

In some situations, the parking brake in the Nissan Armada may automatically release within approximately 5 seconds after selecting D (Drive) or R (Reverse), even if the driver’s door is open. However, for safety, always ensure the door is fully closed before moving the vehicle.

WARNING

• When the automatic brake hold function is active, the Nissan Armada electronic parking brake may not automatically engage if the engine stops unexpectedly (for example, due to stalling). In such cases, the vehicle may not remain stationary unless additional precautions are taken.

  Additionally, if the vehicle is not completely stopped, the parking brake will not automatically engage even if the ignition is turned off.

• Before exiting your Nissan Armada, always shift the transmission into P (Park) and verify that the electronic parking brake warning light is illuminated. This confirms that the parking brake is properly applied. The indicator may remain illuminated for a short time after the vehicle is locked.

CAUTION

In cold weather conditions (below 32°F / 0°C), the electronic parking brake in your Nissan Armada may freeze if applied. This could make it difficult to release.

For safe parking in freezing conditions, it is recommended to place the Nissan Armada in P (Park) and use wheel chocks to prevent unintended movement.

NOTE:

• To keep the parking brake released after turning off the Nissan Armada engine, switch the ignition to OFF, press the brake pedal, and push down the parking brake switch before opening the driver’s door.
• If a malfunction occurs in the Nissan Armada electronic parking brake system (for example, due to battery discharge), contact an authorized Nissan dealer for inspection and service.
• Under the following conditions, the Nissan Armada electronic parking brake will automatically apply and the automatic brake hold function will be released. The corresponding indicator light will turn off:
  • The brake hold function remains active for more than 3 minutes.
  • The transmission is shifted into P (Park).
  • The parking brake is applied manually.
  • The driver’s seat belt is unfastened.
  • The driver’s door is opened.
  • The ignition is switched OFF.
  • A malfunction occurs in the brake hold system.
• Before driving your Nissan Armada, always ensure that the electronic parking brake warning light is OFF, indicating that the brake is fully released.

The Nissan Armada electronic parking brake system is designed to provide enhanced safety, convenience, and control, ensuring reliable vehicle stability when parked in various driving environments.
